about

hi! i’m Rachel—

The Founder of Life in Balance Nutrition llc

Rachel Johnson, MS, BCNSc, is an integrative functional medicine nutritionist who believes in the importance of balance and moderation in all aspects of life. Understanding the complexities of people’s lives, she values smaller, reasonable interventions to address your issues over time. Rachel wants to ensure you have a plan that feels “doable” in your day-to-day life. This results in long-lasting lifestyle changes that support optimal health.

From a young age, Rachel’s love of food and cooking was apparent. Growing up in a holistic household, she learned the value of what nature could provide in the form of whole foods and herbal medicine. Dealing with her own severe gut health issues and hormonal imbalances starting in her mid-20s, Rachel started her own journey of healing and restoration and decided to go back to school to pursue a career in nutrition.

After graduating from Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) with a Master of Science in Nutrition & Integrative Health, she established Life in Balance Nutrition LLC to support women in all stages of life. Focusing on hormonal balancing, thyroid disease, the gut microbiome, anxiety reduction, and prenatal support/postpartum recovery, Rachel utilizes a whole, patient-centered approach to meet the needs of her clients.

Outside work, you will often find her spending time with loved ones, cooking, reading, finding delicious coffee spots, and hiking. As a current Doctor of Clinical Nutrition (DCN) student at MUIH, Rachel looks forward to additional research and writing opportunities in the field of functional medicine and nutrition.
